The LoungeSub from Cornered Audio Systems is designed for medium SPL applications in lounges and cafes. With a cabinet designed as a pouffe, the LoungeSub is as much a piece of furniture as it is a subwoofer and blends discreetly into the design of modern entertainment venues.
An advanced 12” woofer with long excursion is featured in the LoungSub. With a custom designed surround and carbon fibre reinforced curvilinear ribbed cone, it offers a smooth response combined with strong output and excellent reliability. The 75 mm voice coil employs an interleaved sandwich design, in which a high strength fibreglass former carries windings on both the outer and inner surfaces. The result is a balanced coil that provides a uniform motive drive with low distortion. Cooling channels between the basket and the top plate ensure excellent heat dissipation and low power compression.
The 18 mm MDF cabinet is upholstered and covered in fire retardant nappa leather. As such, it can be used like a comfortable pouffe. A foam covered 1 mm steel grille with large air-to-metal ratio protects the woofer. Speaker cables are connected to a barrier strip terminal placed behind the grille that is removable without the use of tools. The speaker cable slides out discreetly from below the grille, and mounting holes behind the grille allow the cabinet to be screwed into the floor.
